Korem, (“Korem” or “we“) values its customers and respects your privacy, and wants you to be familiar with how we collect, use and disclose information. his Privacy Policy describes our practices in connection with information that we collect in accordance with An Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information and other applicable regulations. The  information we collect is through our websites and mobile software applications operated by or on behalf of Korem, including the websites located at https://www.korem.com, and the mobile apps currently entitled “Korem”, and other websites and mobile applications that we own and control and which contain a link to this Privacy Policy. Such websites and mobile apps are referred to collectively in this Privacy Policy as the “Korem Online Properties”. This Privacy Policy applies to the Korem Online Properties regardless of the applicable Korem brand.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to information collected through any means other than the Korem Online Properties – such as information collected through our galleries, call centers or distribution centers – although you may opt out from certain uses and disclosures of your Personal Information by us, as described below under the “Your Rights” section, with respect to all Personal Information collected by Korem, regardless of whether such information is collected through the Korem Online Properties or otherwise.

We encourage you to read this Privacy Policy before using the Korem Online Properties or providing information to us. By using the Korem Online Properties or providing information to us, you acknowledge that we may collect, use and disclose your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

What type of Personal Information we may collect and from whom?

“Personal Information” is information that identifies you as a specific individual. Business contact information as it may appear on a business card is not generally considered as Personal Information.

We and our service providers may collect the following Personal Information:

Our service providers and us may use your Personal Information:

How, why and to whom we disclose your Personal Information?

  • to third-party suppliers, who provide services such as data analysis, payment processing, order fulfillment, IT services and infrastructure, customer service, e-mail delivery and administration, credit card processing, auditing and other similar services to enable them to provide services;

  • to selected third parties, including promotional partners, to enable them to send to you marketing communications. Korem seeks to select as promotional partners only reputable companies that offer what we believe to be high-quality products and services;
  • to third-party sponsors of contests, sweepstakes and similar promotions;
  • to identify you to anyone to whom you send message through the Korem Online Properties;
  • to a third party in the event of any reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, assets or stock (including in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceeding;
  • to any third party as we believe necessary or appropriate under the applicable law, including laws outside your country of residence, in order to:

It is possible that your Personal Information may be disclosed outside of the province of Quebec or Canada. However, we comply with the obligations applicable to disclosure of Personal Information outside of the province of Quebec and ensure that adequate security measures are in place before disclosing such Personal Information outside of the province.

Our security measures for storing and destroying your Personal Information

We maintain all necessary security measures to protect and prevent the loss, misuse, unauthorized access, alteration or unauthorized disclosure of the Personal Information we hold.

Corporate Measures

We limit access to your Personal Information strictly to those who need access in order to perform their duties or achieve the purposes identified in this Policy. In addition, we process to background checks and require security clearances for all job categories with access to Personal Information.

Physical Measures

Our offices are located in secured buildings, and we restrict physical access to all our facilities to only those who require access. Furthermore, appropriate measures have been implemented to protect against loss or unauthorized access disclosure of Personal Information.

Technical Measures

Technical measures have also been put in place to ensure the protection and confidentiality of the Personal Information you share with us.

Please also be aware that we may use third-party cloud service providers that provide hosting, data storage and other services pursuant to standard terms and conditions that may be non-negotiable; these service providers have informed us or the general public that they apply security measures they consider adequate for the protection of information within their system, or they have a general reputation for applying such measures.

Retention and Destruction of Personal Information

We keep Personal Information for as long as it is required for the purposes identified herein. However, we may also be required to retain your Personal Information for longer than we would normally do. Even if we no longer have a business relationship with you or if your consent has been withdrawn or is no longer valid, certain situations may oblige us to retain your Personal Information for a certain period of time in order to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

Location of Personal Information

Since we operate our business activities in the province of Quebec, as well as elsewhere in Canada and the United States, it is possible that Personal Information in our possession may be hosted outside of the province of Quebec. To ensure that the Personal Information remains adequately protected even outside of Quebec, strict and monitored security measures and controls have been implemented.

Your Rights

You have rights with respect to your Personal Information. You may ask us:

  • to have access to the Personal Information we hold about you in order to, among other things, review it;
  • to correct or update the Personal Information we hold about you;
  • to receive a copy of the Personal Information we hold about you in a common and structured format (for example, a PDF file);
  • if Personal Information is publicly disclosed, to stop the disclosure (for example, to remove your name from a contest-related post on our social media identifying you as the winner);
  • to make a hyperlink associated with your name accessible or inaccessible in a search engine under certain conditions.

Your request will be processed as quickly as possible. We will inform you if there is a charge for transcription, reproduction, or transmission.

We may use the Personal Information you share to make automated decisions. A decision is automated when no employee is significantly involved in the decision-making process. We will inform you when an automated decision may result from the Personal Information transmitted.
