Point Cloud

A point cloud is a collection of data points (data sets) in a three-dimensional coordinate system. These points are generally defined by the x, y, and z coordinates and are often used to represent objects or spaces.

For the purposes of mapping, point clouds are useful for creating 3-dimensional terrain surfaces, such as digital elevation models.
