Geofencing
What is a geofence?
A geofence is a virtual perimeter for a real-world geographic area, dynamically generated (according to a radius around a point location) or based on a predefined set of boundaries (such as school zones or neighborhood boundaries).
What is geofencing?
The use of a geofence is called geofencing. It is based on a function of a geolocation tool (e.g., a location-aware device of a location-based service – LBS) that monitors the location and movement of an object (or a person) and could trigger an alert to the device’s user as well as messaging to the geo-fence operator, when the location or movement deviates from certain values fixed in advance.
